The Fast (and Easy) Way to Build Your Sales Funnel on LinkedIn

Here’s a proven, step-by-step approach to building an effective sales funnel over on LinkedIn.

Finding new business online can be a lot like going fishing – you need to find the right location and the right bait.

Since LinkedIn is such a highly-visible and trusted platform for business professionals, with over 500 million members, it can be a great virtual fishing hole for generating qualified leads that turn to sales.

The key, of course, is knowing how to reel all those prospects in.

Having spent the past 60 months studying how to sell products and services on LinkedIn, a definite pattern and approach has emerged based on everything I’ve seen and done.

I’ll spend the rest of this post briefly outlining each step of the process!

STEP 1: Create a Client-Facing Profile.

Prospects you encounter on LinkedIn must be able to immediately understand what type of products or services you offer and the key audiences you serve. Your LinkedIn profile should not be about you. Instead it should be focused on what you can do for your ideal audience and what makes you different or better when compared to your competitors.

STEP 2: Create a piece of free content (Blog post, eBook, video, etc.) that targets a specific audience and has a Call To Action (CTA) included.

Content marketing is the price you must pay in order to purchase prospect’s time, attention and interest online. When you create something of value that can help your target audience solve their problems, you get this golden opportunity to demonstrate your authority and expertise, instead of just claiming it.

Once you’ve offered some free content, you have the relationship capital to ask your prospects to opt in for even more information and insight. This becomes your Call To Action, or CTA.

Whatever your CTA is, it must move the person further and deeper into your sales funnel. And remember – whatever “ask” you make with your CTA should be in direct proportion to the amount of trust and value you’ve built up to this point.

STEP 3: Use LinkedIn Search to find and connect with individual members of a specific or niche audience.

On LinkedIn, the riches are in the niches. Most people don’t realize it, but LinkedIn is one of the world’s largest search engines.

Use LinkedIn search to find your ideal prospects, using keywords, such as someone’s job title, and then used LinkedIn’s advanced filters to refine your search to include where someone lives, where he or she went to college, etc.

You now have a customized list of your ideal prospects ready to engage with, including the ice breakers and conversation starters (where someone lives, went to college, etc.) that help get the ball rolling.

STEP 4: Send each person a personalized invitation and get connected.

Remember, the key to success on LinkedIn is personalized, 1-on-1 marketing. You have all the information your need right in their profile: Where they went to school, where they live, even their activities and hobbies.

Find a unique way to personalize your invitations!

You have an ability to break the ice and strike up a conversation around topics that the person is comfortable and familiar with, and you can do it without being sales-y, spammy or sleazy.

STEP 5: Send each new connection a “warm-up” message with your free piece of content.

You can pivot from the initial icebreakers (via your LinkedIn invitation and first messages) into a one-on-one conversation where you offer something of value to your ideal prospect.

The idea here is simple – you must earn the right to ask someone for their time and attention on LinkedIn. You do that by providing some free tips, free advice, content, etc., that is aimed at solving one of the key prospects or pain points your ideal prospect has inside his or her business.

Because you’ve started the relationship off in a casual, 1-on-1 conversation style via LinkedIn, you can share your free tips or resources as a natural extension of the conversation.

STEP 6: Reply to warm leads who engage via messages and/or your content.

Stay engaged with people who like your posts. Reply to every comment and message. People want to do business with people they know, like and trust, and having casual business conversations with your contacts helps humanize you and prove you’re attentive and ready to help.

STEP 7: Go back to targeted prospects 2-3 times per month and send them more valuable tips and content.

It’s rare that anyone says “no thanks” to free tips to help them specifically with their business needs, as long as those free tips are truly of value.

Remember, you must bring real and legitimate value to the other person before you can ask for anything in return.

It might take time to build that trust, but as you move people into your sales funnel and stay consistent with your high-quality content and 1-on-1, personalized interactions, you’ll continue to hook them as new customers.

Why LinkedIn Works So Well

There simply isn’t another platform online right now where all the world’s professionals are gathered in one place, let alone in “work” mode while interacting there.

This is the daily reality over on LinkedIn, and that’s why, if you understand the best way to fish the platform digitally, it becomes a nonstop source of qualified sales leads and new customers.

So get your pole, grab some bait and get after it!

What Are Website Wireframes?

The important first step in the design and development of any website is the production of a set of website wireframes. This is even more important since the introduction of responsive website design and mobile-first website design. But what exactly are website wireframes and why are they so important?

What is a website wireframe?

A website wireframe is a layout for a page of the site, demonstrating the structure of the page and the elements to be included within it. These are black and white mockups that do not include any colour, font choices, logos or imagery. Many people refer to website wireframes as being an ‘architectural blueprint’ for the site.

Why are website wireframes important?

Surely it’s a much quicker website design process to go straight into fully styled mockups? What’s so important about website wireframes that warrants a whole extra development phase in the project?

The review of black and white wireframes enable both designers and clients to really concentrate on the content and features of the website, as well as the user journey. Without the distractions of colours and fonts we can really focus on whether we are including the key elements that are going to aid a user in finding the information on your site that they are looking for and whether the flow of the elements on the page is going to create a good user experience. We can make sure that everything is on track before we get too far into the process, and clients find it a really useful indicator of the content that they will need to start preparing for their new site – they can see how many images they will need for each as well as the sizes that images will be used at. Wireframes can also give the client a good indication of an appropriate length of textual content, so that they can write or edit their text suitably (if they are managing this process themselves).

Used in conjunction with a style tile, website wireframes can become even more powerful. If you can agree the structure of the elements for the webpages, and agree the colours, fonts and design elements via a style tile, then you have everything you need to build the website templates quite quickly.

Wireframes can also be used for very early usability testing with your target market – if it is not clear to users how to navigate through the site structure at this stage, then the layouts can be re-thought at this point – making changes to wireframes is a simple and quick process, certainly much quicker than making large scale amends to full page mockups.

It is also important to remember that wireframes aren’t only for the unrestricted customer facing pages – they become even more important for customer login areas and administration areas. The backend functionality within these types of areas on a website can have huge effects on the way that data appears elsewhere on the website and can be pivotal to everything working correctly – they also include the type of functionality that you want to get right first time when you write the code the website as if things aren’t fundamentally right, you may end up in a position where you need to rewrite large parts of the code, or sometimes even start again. Sometimes, the brief for the functionality requirements of something like an administration area or complicated frontend process isn’t always clear, or it’s sometimes just not easy to anticipate elements that will be needed until things start to progress – this another major advantage of wireframes, as they can often confirm or clarify the brief at this early development stage.

So actually, by adding in this initial stage of website wireframes, we actually save time on the entire project.

How do website wireframes help in responsive website design and a mobile-first approach?

Even when you’ve gotten your head around the elements that you need to include on a webpage, it can be very difficult to envisage how these same elements will work across different screen sizes as part of a responsive website design. You could create a beautiful fully styled mockup of the new homepage of your site in Photoshop for desktop screens, but how will that translate to mobile devices? Wireframes are a great starting point to position elements on the page, starting with the mobile level, so that you can see how things will be structured to ensure a good user experience.

As a website designer, how much should you include in a website wireframe?

The ‘rule’ of website wireframes is to not include any content at all, but in reality, you need to tailor how much you include to suit your needs. This will depend on the type and complexity of the website that you are designing, and sometimes on the needs of your client too. For some websites, simply specifying a ‘header’ or ‘navigation’ block is enough, for others, you may need to include the full navigation menu structure and even an example of how the submenu items will be structured. But it really is best to avoid using any colour or imagery – of course you do need to indicate where images will be placed, but stick to plain blocks.

For administration areas or other areas where you are demonstrating functionality, it is best to be as specific as you can while also sticking to the brief. Ensure that you are taking into account buttons, filtering options, dropdown menus, radio buttons and other options that are relevant to your functionality so that you can demonstrate to the client how they will use the system.

What’s the best software or tool for creating website wireframes?

There are many ways of creating website wireframes, and the option you choose is going to depend on many factors including whether you will be working collaboratively with other team members and how you are going to present the wireframes to the client. For instance, you can create wireframes in Adobe Illustrator if there’s only going to be one person working on them at any one time. For huge amounts of flexibility and team collaboration, online tools like Figma are great. At Rapid Web we also use InVision for uploading our wireframes to an area where we can share and review with our clients, adding comments and feedback.

Denzel Washington Killed In A Drive-By Shooting In New York Is A Celebrity Death Hoax

Denzel Washington killed in a drive-by shooting in New York is just another celebrity death hoax. There is no truth to a report that Academy Award-winning actor was killed in a drive-by shooting in New York. Of course, there is no truth to this outrageous death. Instead, it is another celebrity death hoax that has seen people alleging someone like Washington, Eddie Murphy or Ted Nugent were recently killed.

Washington is the former star of the hit TV drama “St. Elsewhere.” He has earned popular and critical acclaim for his roles in an array of feature films, including “Glory,” “Malcolm X,” “Training Day,” “American Gangster” and “Flight.”

Where did this fake news originate? The “Houston News” web site published on Jan. 27 2016, an article reporting that Washington was killed in a drive-by shooting in New York. You can read text from that fake story below.

“An American actor, director, and producer, Denzel Washington is tragically killed today after being shot in New York.

Around 2:00 a.m., police responded to a 911 call about a man shot in a drive-by on Alabama Avenue street in East New York and upon identification, the victim happened to be the most sensational and highly sought after American movie icon, Denzel Washington.

The actor who was currently one of the most prolific figure in the global movie industry was killed from a close distance by unknown gunman.

He was found dead in a pool of blood strangled to death, police said.

The 62-year-old movie star had been wounded in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Here are some examples of people sharing the celebrity death hoax about Washington on social media.

There was no truth to this report as Washington is clearly alive and well. Instead, the “Houston News” is a fake news web site whose domain name (houstonchronicle-tv.com) is designed to fool readers by imitating that of the legitimate Houston Chronicle newspaper, according to Snopes.

Denzel Washington is quite alive and still working, currently engaged in production of an upcoming crime drama provisionally titled Inner City.

Washington spoke the stirring words of John Coltrane in Chasing Trane trailer. The documentary, written and directed by John Scheinfeld, explores Coltrane’s incredible life and career with the help of commentary from celebrity fans, including Bill Clinton, Common, Carlos Santana, and Sonny Rollins, not to mention Denzel Washington, on hand to read writings by Coltrane himself.

Washington had recently found himself at the Oscars where his film, Fences was nominated for several awards. In that film, Troy Maxson (Denzel Washington) makes his living as a sanitation worker in 1950s Pittsburgh. Maxson once dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player, but was deemed too old when the major leagues began admitting black athletes. Bitter over his missed opportunity, Troy creates further tension in his family when he squashes his son’s (Jovan Adepo) chance to meet a college football recruiter.

The Fate Of The Furious With Vin Diesel and The Rock Is A Hit With Online Piracy And Box Office

Universal’s “The Fate of the Furious” is proving very successful at the box office but it also found success elsewhere. The film starring Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is also being burning up the piracy networks.

“Fate of the Furious,” which bowed April 14th in the United States, was illegally shared 2.1 million times worldwide in the following seven days says piracy-analytics firm Tecxipio. The copies were illegally camcorded in cinemas and apparently originating from India. Though easily the most-pirated film for that week, it was far behind the previous series entry “Furious 7” which was pirated by 4.74 million users over a comparable seven-day span.

Big-budget Hollywood fare, particularly movies and TV shows that skew toward male audiences, remain very popular amongst illegal downloaders.

The Fate of the Furious easily topped the box office charts for the second week in a row in every market across the globe. Domestically, the eighth installment added $38.7 million to bring its total to $163.6 million, while internationally the film grossed another $163.4 million this weekend for an overseas total of $744.8 million.

That means the worldwide total for The Fate of the Furious is already up to $908.4 million, and it will cross the $1 billion mark this week. In 2015, Furious 7 earned $353 million in North America and $1.163 billion internationally, for a worldwide total of $1.516 billion.

Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Oscar winner Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.

From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world’s stage…and to bring home the man who made them a family.

For The Fate of the Furious, Vin Diesel is joined by a returning all-star cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell. In addition to Theron, the series welcomes newcomers Scott Eastwood and Oscar winner Helen Mirren. The film is directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and produced by returning producers Neal H. Moritz, Michael Fottrell and Diesel.

What did you think of the film? Did you see it in the theater or were you one of the individuals that illegally downloaded the film? Let us know in the comments section.

Donald Trump Ditches White House Correspondents Dinner For Pennsylvania Rally Mocking Media

President Donald Trump ditched the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and, instead, attended a rally in Pennsylvania to lay into the media. The rally marked 100 days in the Oval Office. At the rally, Trump told supporters in Pennsylvania that he was keeping “one promise after another”, dismissing criticism as “fake news” by “out of touch” journalists. At one point, Trump also said to throw out an angry protester.

Trump’s skipping of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner is the first by a president since Ronald Reagan in 1981. At the rally in Harrisburg, Pa., Trump said that the media should be given “a big, fat, failing grade” over their coverage of his achievements during his first 100 days and told the cheering crowd he was “thrilled to be more than 100 miles from Washington.” The president said the previous administration of Barack Obama “gave us a mess”, stressing that he was ready for “great battles to come and we will win in every case.”

“A large group of Hollywood actors and Washington media are consoling each other in a hotel ballroom in our nation’s capitol right now,” he said. “They are gathered together for a White House Correspondents’ Dinner without the president.” Trump has attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner before and was famously roasted by President Barack Obama at the 2011 event.

Here are some reactions to Trump’s rally on social media.

Trump has recently attacked federal judges, threatened to pull out of NAFTA, demanded payment from South Korea for a U.S. missile shield and considered the chances of a “major conflict” with North Korea. However, Trump lacks a major legislative achievement, has the lowest approval ratings of any new commander in chief since World War II, has seen several key immigration goals held up by the courts and is yet to show his deal making skills can transform Washington like he said they would.

What did you think about Trump skipping out of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner? Were you looking forward to seeing him be ridicule? Let us know in the comments section.
