Betty White seen in photographs when she was in her 20s being shared on social media are not her. Rather, the alleged pictures of White in her 20s actually show an unrelated 1950’s pin-up model.

In mid-October 2015, social media users began circulating a series of photographs purportedly showing 93-year-old actress and game show panelist Betty White back when she was in her twenties.

The older woman pictured in the upper left-hand corner of the above-displayed image is certainly the always amusing White. However, the younger woman featured in the black and white images is not the former star of the Golden Girls television series.

Rather, the photographs of “Betty White in Her 20s” actually show 1950s pin-up model Betty Brosmer.

“Betty’s classic beauty put her on over 300 magazine covers and books. Betty had the greatest hourglass figure of all time: 38-18-36 (inches). She was in thousands of magazine spreads. Her face appeared on full-page ads in Life, Time, Fortune, Look, Saturday Evening Post and other leading magazines of her day. She won over 50 beauty contests before the age of 20. Betty, the ultimate Calendar Girl, appeared on hundreds of calendars. She was on numerous music album covers; On billboards in Times Square and billboards across the country; On life-size cutouts in retail stores selling Kodak film, Thom McAn shoes and other products.

The above-displayed images were not the only ones to circulate on social media under the misleading title “Betty White In Her 20s.” Another popular image (seen below) purportedly showing the star of Hot in Cleveland in her 20s has been circulating online for several years.

The above photograph from Life does indeed show White. However, Getty Images lists the date on which that photograph was originally published was Sept. 22, 1957, when White was actually 35 years old. White was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Oak Park, Illinois, Betty White has been in show business since the 1950s.

Here are some examples of people sharing the images with the wrong information on social media.

After The Golden Girls went off the air in 1992, White appeared in the short-lived spin-off, Golden Palace. She had better luck as a guest star, appearing on numerous television series. She even played herself on The John Larroquette Show in 1996, which earned her another Emmy Award-win. More recently, White enjoyed recurring roles on David E. Kelley’s Boston Legal and on the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. She also had a supporting role in 2009’s romantic comedy The Proposal, starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.

What did you think of the images? Did you believe that they were of a young White or could you tell that they were of someone else? Did you see people falsely sharing them? Let us know in the comments section.
