Maxine Waters Only Attending A Tenth Of Congressional Meetings For 35 Years Is False

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) reportedly missing 90 percent of “Congressional meetings” was repeated by a blog as a credible statistic even though it is a self-debunking Reddit claim. There is no truth to the report that Waters attended only ten percent of Congressional meetings in the more than three decades that she has held office. Where did this false information originate?

TeddyStick.com published the article on June 7, 2017, suggesting Waters was present for only ten percent of Congressional activity in a 35-year period. You can read the false story below.

Maxine Waters (D-CA) is one of the most unpleasant people to ever hold be a public servant. She is always, angry, something that she wears as a badge of honor. She has pushed the lie about President Trump having Russian connections and has even had to admit that no facts exists to condemn the White House for.

Now the demented Democrat is looking even more foolish since an observant Reddit user known as 1tch has taken the time to gather the facts together showing that “Over Her 35 Years In Congress Maxine Waters Has Missed 90% Of Congressional Meetings.”

As reported by Snopes, the article linked to its “source,” which was nothing more than a thread on an online web forum. However, in that very thread, people disputed the claim. Those same people asked for a source that proved Waters had been absent for 90 percent of Congressional activities.

In fact, one person specifically linked to Waters’ GovTrack.com 2016 report card, instructing others to check via the “Missed Votes” section. You can see a screenshot of that report card below.

According to GovTrack.com’s 2016 Report Card for Waters, she missed 7.6 percent of votes, or 100 out of 1,311 total votes during the 114th Congress. So, the claim that Waters skipped out on 90 percent of “Congressional meetings” appears to have been entirely fabricated.

Here are some examples of people sharing the false information on social media.

Waters recently burned President Donald Trump using Twitter. “So Comey told Jeff Sessions he didn’t want to be alone with Trump,” Waters tweeted Wednesday. “Women across the country can relate.”

Waters’ tweet was in response to the statement former FBI Director James Comey released ahead of his testimony to Congress. Comey wrote that he told Attorney General Jeff Sessions that the President had addressed him alone in February to discuss Michael Flynn, Trump’s former National Security Advisor.
