Beyoncé Debuts Twins Rumi and Sir Carter on Instagram

Beyoncé broke the internet overnight when she introduced twins Rumi and Sir Carter to the world. The “Lemonade” singer announced earlier this year in a floral-themed photo shoot that she and husband Jay-Z were expecting twins.

“Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today,” Beyoncé wrote on Instagram. The photo, which follows a similar whimsical, flowery theme, quickly went viral—accumulating more than 1 million likes in less than 30 minutes, according to NY Daily News. The photo currently has more than 7 million likes. Beyoncé’s pregnancy announcement, which was shared in February, currently holds the record for most-liked Instagram photo with over 11 million likes.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z welcomed twins last month and rumors swirled on social media as news of the twins’ arrival remained unconfirmed by the couple. Their arrival was later confirmed, however, when Beyoncé’s father tweeted “They’re here!” The accompanying image read: “Happy birthday to the twins. Love, Grandad.” The twins remained in the hospital for two weeks as they were reportedly treated for jaundice. The hot topic then became what the twins’ sexes and names were—later revealed to be Sir and Rumi (a boy and girl), both of which are now trademarked names.

The couple also has a 5-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy. Beyoncé’s first pregnancy announcement was made during the MTV Video Music Awards. “I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside me,” she announced to the crowd as she unbuttoned her sparkly coat. Their children were referenced in Jay-Z’s new album “4:44.”
